A Table Set for Friends
Having a dinner party with friends can be as simple as burgers on the grill and eating them on patio chairs, or it can be a coordinated meal where the elements of food, table setting, and wine all complement each other.
I do both (and frankly, the simple versions more often!). This night, I was in the mood to gather our friends and have a dinner party. That meant a carefully set table, multi-course meal, wine pairings, and desert.
It all starts with the table.
My everyday table has some candles, plants, and my favorite owl feathers. It was to transform to fit 12 people with plates, napkins, glasses and added flowers to add a pop of color and finish the table. I enjoy this part of entertaining almost as much as the cooking!
Dinner with friends doesn't need to be elaborate or perfect. I wanted it to feel like I was looking forward to having them there. For this dinner, I used things I already had, brought in colorful flowers, and set out plenty of wine glasses so I have as much done as possible ahead of them arriving.
I took a few pictures as I went. Looking back through them, I loved seeing the table come together, ending with everyone sitting around the table, glasses filled, food being passed, and people talking and laughing.
We had an enjoyable evening with lots of stories, laughs, and good friends catching up. This is what I love about living in my little Colorado town - the people.
